Raoul responds to Rauner’s veto of election security legislation

CHICAGO – Kwame Raoul, Democratic candidate for attorney general, issued the following statement in response to Governor Bruce Rauner’s veto of legislation Raoul sponsored to end Illinois’ participation in the Interstate Voter Registration Crosscheck Program:

Bruce Rauner’s decision to keep Illinois in Crosscheck puts Illinois voters at risk. Half a million Illinoisans’ personal information was exposed to foreign adversaries, yet the governor sees no reason to defend the integrity of future elections by ending our participation in a database we know is prone to security breaches. I am extremely disappointed in this veto, and as attorney general, I will prioritize the investigation of any and all threats to voter privacy and fair elections.
